Diagonal Days - 001
Dear Readers,
today I launch a new comic strip based on the characters of the Diagonal Lane Trilogy (yes, it is a trilogy, more on that in another post). Here is strip number 1, which introduces retired, long-suffering bank manger Mr. Reddy, and his batty wife Mrs. Reddy. Very appropriately, because Mr. and Mrs. Reddy are at the center of so many of the Diagonal Lane stories. I will be drawing a new strip every weekend and posting it here. So please do check back next week for episode 2.
By the way, the strip is signed "Poltu". That is the penname I use for all of my artistic work. Death on Diagonal Lane is published under my real name, because my editor at Hachette thought pennames complicate matters unnecessarily. However, I plan to continue to use my penname for my cartooning, mostly because an unwieldy moniker like "Pashupati Chatterji" looks plain weird on a comic strip. Actually, it looks pretty weird on the cover of a novel too, but that is another story...
Also by the way, if you are a student of French or German, you may be interested to know that I will be posting French and German versions of this strip on my main cartoon blog, pen-slinger.blogspot.com . Over there, you can find other strips that I have been drawing this past decade, many of them multi-lingual.
You can follow the official Diagonal Lane Twitter account @diagonallane or the official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/diagonallane in order be updated whenever I post a new episode of Diagonal Days.
Happy Reading!
Pashupati "Poltu" Chatterji
